Result: Ridgerunners Bird Dog Club Fall Trial

The Ridgerunners Bird Dog Club held its fall trial at the Freeland Kennel Club near Weatherly, Pa., on the weekend of September 11-12.

Saturday, September 11, featured a full slate of U. S. Complete Association amateur walking stakes. Sunday, September 12, featured a horseback Derby and and horseback Shooting Dog Stake which were run under the Southern Bird Hunters Association banner and also counted towards points for the Eastern Pennsylvania Field Trial Association.

We were grateful to have a great panel of judges for all the stakes. Thank you all for your time and effort. Judges are appended below along with all the placed winners.

A huge thanks goes out to Deann Deritis and Catherine Avillion! These two ladies worked hard all weekend providing food and drinks to all that attended. Including another fantastic handlers dinner Saturday evening. Nobody ever leaves this trial hungry!

Tom Davis and Dean Avillion shared the bird planting duties. I can honestly say I did not hear one complaint about the bird planting all weekend. While that truly is an anomaly worth mentioning, it is also a testament to their knowledge of bird dogs and upland hunting.

Roger Dvorak, Dave McKay, Ernie Saniga and Gunner Boyer were all very gracious in loaning their horses for judging and scouting all weekend. This trial would not be a success without them.

As always, Purina deserves to be mentioned as a sponsor. Purina is a gracious sponsor of the U. S. Complete Shooting Dog Association on many levels and supplied dog food coupons for all the place winners of Saturdays running. Gun Dog Supply also stepped up and supplied judges' gifts for the SBHA stakes on Sunday.
