Both days proved great weather, cooler than previous years especially in the am. We were light on puppy entries and some derby entries, however both days of Shooting Dog Stakes were filled with some of the best competitive shooting dogs in northern New Egland.
Open Puppy Stake began at 7.30 am August 29th - a very light entry of 4 dogs. The blue goes to Niantic River Amber owned by Dave Phillips handled by Adam Dubriske. The red goes to Flash, owner handler Brian Dix.
Open Derby also light on entries: first went to Hog Hill Axis Sally owned by and handler Brian Dix, second was Just Little Mac owned and handled by Frank Joyal, third was given to Hog Hill Sparkling Diamon owned and handled by Doug Dix.
Open Shooting Dog Placements: 25 entries kept us busy, with the task of staying on course to finish the day. First place was presented to Rock Solid Ronnie owned and handled by Brian Dix, "Ronnie" scored a mannerly woodcock find after many braces had gone through. Second place went to Lighting Flash Remington owned and handled by Brian Dix, third went to Henry's SusieQ Dot owned and handled by Dave Theroux.
Gun Dog Stake was exciting as the first brace out, Nick Hamel's dog Bauer had a nice grouse find in the pines, 5 minutes past the break away, his everts were worth it as he was granted first place. Second place was awarded to Waylon a very handsome GSP owned and handled by Noah Taveres. Third place was given to Stitch owned and handled by Gregg Elliot.
Open Derby on Sunday, first place was awarded to BraeVal Torrin owned and handled by Gregor McCluskey, second place to Annie Machia owned and handled by Patric Machia, third place to Full Moon's Rip Tide owned and handled by Frank Joyal.
Open Shooting Dog on Sunday, another full entry of 22 dogs. First place to BraeVal Rory owned and handled by Gregor McCluskey, second place went to Hog Hill FAFO owned and handled by Brian Dix, third place to Lightning Flash Remington owned and handled by Brian Dix.
