The West Valley Bird Dog Club held its annual spring trial, running the Paul Rose Memorial Open Shooting Dog Derby and the Hal Meyer Amateur Shooting Dog on March 6.
The trial took place at Lynn Stinson's Moonlight Ranch in Valley Springs, California. The weather and course were ideal for trialing. All the creeks were full, and the pastures were lush green.

The Paul Rose Memorial was won by Horizons Katie, owned and handled by Terry Erickson. She was forward from the start and hunted the objectives with a strong finish. Second was Rocking J's Chip, owned and handled by Jarry Walton. Third was Tuca's Fox On The Run, owned and handled by Ed Mayhew.

The Hal Meyer Amateur Shooting Dog was won by Pride N Joy, owned and handled by Tom Griffin. He handled his game flawlessly and ran with style. Second was High Deserts Huntin The Rim Rocks, owned and handled by Aaron Fausett. Third was High Deserts Jewel of The Sierra, also owned and handled by Aaron Fausett.

A shout-out to Patt Rose for the wonderful meals and to Jamie Griffin, our first-time dog wagon driver. She was always where we needed her with the right dog.
Thank you to all the participants and judges for making their long trips, supporting the West Valley Bird Dog Club, and making the trial a success.
