The Beaver Valley Pointer and Setter Club hosted its annual spring trial on the weekend of March 15 at its iconic grounds in Rochester Twp., Pennsylvania. The Beaver Valley club, founded in 1949, has run field trials continuously since its inception, and this weekend was no exception, with over 70 dogs coming to the line. The trial ran smoothly under the guidance of longtime club member Norm Meeder, who kept things moving in a timely manner. Special thanks to Kathleen Smith, who ran the kitchen and ensured plenty of food for participants and judges. On Saturday, Jim Winnen put on one of the best fish fries in recent history, with Lake Erie Walleye the main plate, plus all the fixings. Donna McMullen provided a delicious pot of chili, and Joe Ann Sampson made some fabulous desserts. Deb Fazenbaker provided her famous Beaver Valley blackberry dessert, and a crowd of folks gathered for an evening of friendships and tall tales.

Our judging staff was a group of dedicated bird dog enthusiasts, and their input was much appreciated as they evaluated the dogs in play. Special thanks to Dave Park, Jason Ketchel, Reese Carroll, Justin Mason, Curtis Fry, and Brian Ralph for their time in the judging saddle. Thanks as well to Purina, a stalwart supporter of field trials in our region.
