The Kenneth Newman Memorial Open Shooting Dog Derby stake produced a competitive group of young dogs, each showing promise and forward ambition befitting the occasion.
First place went to Panther Creek Driving Force, handled by Squire Lee and owned by Frank Rutland, after a good forward race that showcased consistency and maturity well beyond his derby status. "Mack" hunted with purpose and confidence, staying to the front and maintaining a forward pattern throughout the course. Scouted by Tony Reynolds, Mack's performance was steady, earning him top honors.
Second place was awarded to Nonami's Ben Lately, handled by Ray Pearce and owned by R. E. Turner. Ben turned in a strong forward race, showing reach and application throughout. He suffered one unproductive, but his overall performance and ground race kept him firmly in contention. Justin Hunt scouted for Pearce through a solid and competitive showing.
Taking third place was World Class Mojo, handled by Squire Lee and owned by Mick Marrietta. "Pat" delivered a forward race highlighted by one clean find, then stretched out late, finishing the course with authority and leaving a strong final impression. Tony Reynolds scouted for Pat, contributing to a finish that reflected the dog's developing strength and potential.
The Kenneth Newman Memorial Derby served as a fitting tribute, showcasing young dogs on the rise and honoring the legacy that continues to be remembered on these grounds.
