Pinehurst AAAS26

Amateur All-Age (l-r): Mohawk Mill At Dawn with Ellen Winall, I'm A Southern Natural with Kyle Whitfield, and I'm Alley Cat with Nida Giddens, joined by spectators.

The 110th Annual running was held on the Hoffman Grounds, January 9-11. A large entry for this trial drew some 30 all-age contenders and 10 derby entries for 18 hours of running on these pristine grounds. Weather conditions were suitable for each day of running. Birds were adequate throughout the trial and observed on all six courses. Opportunities were there, and notable performances were observed.

Judges for this renewal were Larry Cox of Randleman, North Carolina, and Bob Young of Hoffman. These judges set a good pace and were consistent throughout the running. Both have the experience and knowledge for rendering a decision.

Randy Bradshaw deserves appreciation for his help, assistance, and contributions to daily lunch preparation and to the Saturday night social and dinner. Greg Robinson was in charge of the dog wagon and, as always, was at the right location when needed, enabling a smooth running of the trials.

As always, the support and gifts provided by Purina are certainly appreciated and deserving of all that Purina does for field trials in their participation.

First place in the Derby stake was Mohawk Mill Captain for owners Ellen and Gary Winall. Gary handled this winner and was rewarded with one upfront find with style and manners. Nomads Easy Come Easy Go placed second for Worth Lewis, and third place went to Emperor's Stone Cold Warrior for Brad Macke.

In the All-Age stake, Gary Winall was again in the winners' circle, placing Mohawk Mill At Dawn for first place. Dawn ran an outstanding race on Course #4, showing drive, run, and hunt, and was deservedly credited with two finds--A notable performance.
Both second and third place went to Sammy Giddens' charges. I'm A Southern Natural placed second, and third place went to I'm Alley Cat. Both of Sammy's contenders ran into front, requiring very little scouting, and with the hunt were rewarded with credible finds.
