National Amateur Shooting Dog Invitational Championship: Great River Yellowstone with Tracy Swearingen, Brian Sanchez, and Stevens Walker.

Great River Yellowstone was deemed champion of the top 12 shooting dogs in the country, handled and owned by Brian Sanchez and Great River Kennels. Runner-up champion was earned by Calico's Country Strong owned and handled by Alex Smith.

The National Amateur Shooting Dog Invitational Championship was held at the beautiful Round Pond Plantation in Leslie, Georgia, on December 13. The AFTCA thanks Neil Walker and his mom, Pam Walker, for allowing us to host this prestigious Championship. Congratulations to Neil's Dad and Pam's husband for being inducted into the Field Trial Hall of Fame this year. A ceremony will be held at the Bird Dog Museum on February 8 in Grand Junction, Tennessee.

The AFTCA thanks Tracy Swearingen for all his hard work before and during the Championship. Many different hats pitched in to help marshal throughout the two and a half days of competition. Tracy Swearingen, Brian Sanchez, Luke Eisenhart and Alex Smith all helped out and their help is much appreciated by the AFTCA. Clayton Cook handled all aspects of the dog wagon. As always, Deb Hofer and Christy Swearingen do an amazing job preparing ALL the meals throughout the Championship. It takes a lot of time, early morning and late evening, to handle all aspects of this, and their time and friendship is greatly appreciated.

John Mathys and Scott Jordan rode the judicial saddles, and their time and effort were greatly appreciated. The outcome of this Championship reflects all three days of competition.
Greg Blair with Purina attended the first two days of competition. The AFTCA cannot thank Purina enough for all their support and sponsorship. They provided a bag of dog food to all handlers per dog in competition and awarded dog food to the winners. Garmin collars were provided to winners as well. The AFTCA appreciates their support and sponsorship.

Great River Yellowstone, handled and owned by Brian Sanchez, stood out among the top 12 contenders with a strong ground performance all three days. He showed plenty of style and class, complemented by a total of six finds showing handsome, high style, and impeccable manners. He suffered two unproductives the last day.
Calico's Country Strong, handled and owned by Alex Smith, put down a nice performance handling well all three days with six nicely executed pieces of bird displaying excellent manners.
