Amateur All-Age (l-r): Larron Copeland with Showtime Game Changer, Colt Copeland with Showtime Mocking Jay, and Woody Watson with Touch's Blue Knight, joined by participants.

The Lee County Field Trial Cub hosted its 14th Annual field trial. The Amateur All-Age stake started Saturday, December 7, 2024, with beautiful weather.

The winner, Showtime Game Changer, handled by Larron Copeland, came out of the first brace after lunch with an excellent race and three perfect finds, one right at pickup. The second-place dog, Showtime Mocking Jay, handled by Colt Copeland, ran on the second course and tallied two finds. Coming in third place, Touch's Blue Knight, handled by Woody Watson, also ran on the second course with one good find and a stellar race.

The Amateur Derby started immediately following the All-Age, with Southern Shadows Hugo taking the top spot for Brian Peterson, while Erin's Redemption tallied the second-place spot for John Mathys. The third-place spot went to Southern Margarita Lane, PF, also handled by Brian Peterson. The Derby was also run on a continuous course, with all winners having bird contact.
Tom and Tiffany Bass served as judges and placements were well received. It was a real pleasure to have them.

The Open All-Age began Wednesday morning following weather delays with 36 competing dogs.
The first brace produced the first-place dog, Miller's Heat Advisory, handled by Judd Carlton. He had a strong forward race with multiple finds. Everyone knew this would be the dog to beat after he was picked up.

The fourth brace produced the second-place dog, Erin's Code of Honor, handled by Luke Eisenhart, having a good race with four well-handled finds.
The 17th brace produced the third-place dog, Haney's Storm Warning, PM, handled by Luke Eisenhart. Storm Warning had three good finds, one being a covey that nobody else had pointed the whole trial.

The Open Derby, run on a continuous course, began immediately following the Open All-Age with 25 dogs.
The first-place dog, coming out of the 11th brace, Erins War Eagle, handled by Luke Eisenhart, had a very strong, forward race and an excellent find at 17.
The second-place dog, Haney's Top Shelf, handled by Mark Mclean, came out of the fourth brace, having a good race with finds at 19 and 21.
The third-place dog, Erin's Bold Ruler, handled by Luke Eisenhart, came out of the sixth brace. Ruler had a good race with a superb find at 28.

The Open All-Age and Open Derby judges were Mike Jackson of Battleground, Indiana, and Harrison Lee of Union Springs, Alabama. They were a pleasure to have, and placements were well received.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Purina for sponsoring the trial. We also owe thanks to Steve and Marilyn Wiley for sponsoring breakfast every morning, along with Nutrien Ag, Ivey's Outdoors, Gill Ag, NextGen Americot, and Tri-Co AG for sponsoring lunches.
