It's that time of year again. Hall of Fame nominations for those deserving dogs and personalities are open. To submit a nomination, email Dinora at dwellmann@ukcdogs.com

The Field Trial Hall of Fame was initiated in 1954, and since that time, deserving dogs and worthy field trial personalities have been elected each year.

There are two categories of candidates -- Dogs and Persons -- and for each, the primary focus is contributions to the sport. For Dogs, the win record is significant, not just the number of wins but primarily the quality of the wins. Production record is also important, i.e., winners produced and the quality of the wins of the Dog's offspring. On rare occasions, a Dog has been elected to the Field Trial Hall of Fame on the merits of one of these aspects: a win record of outstanding achievement or winners produced contributing greatly to the quality of competition.

Insofar as Persons, the same rule of thumb applies -- contributions to the sport -- and over a lengthy period. Contributions may span several facets: club official, judge, breeder, owner, handler, reporter, landowner, patron of the sport, and usually a combination of these areas of contribution. An eligible nominee may be living or dead; if living, should also have reached 64 years of age.

Election to the Field Trial Hall of Fame is considered one of the highest honors in this time-honored sport.

An official entity of United Kennel Club (UKC), the American Field legacy, mission, and Field Dog Stud Book certified pedigree database is carefully managed by UKC for the continued betterment of field trial dogs.
