As the oldest pure bred dog registry in the United States whose records date back to 1874, the Field Dog Stud Book consistently works to assist owners and breeders with accurate and reliable registration services.
For example, mandatory litter enrollment by the FDSB some years back has gone a long way toward providing owners and breeders with a permanent record of breedings, i.e.: name of sire and dam, whelping date, number of puppies in the litter, their color and sex.
A more recent requirement that dogs be registered before field trial placements can be credited has assured that the correct dog, identified by registration number and breeding, is the bona fide recipient of the win.
Field Dog Stud Book DNA services have proved to be of unestimable value to owners and breeders in determining correct lineage.
The FDSB has announced two new requirements effective March 1.
For litters to be enrolled with the FDSB, application for enrollment must be received within six months of the whelping date of the litter. Applications received after the six months, registration fees shall double.
For registration of individual dogs, application for registration must be received within one year of the dogs whelping date. For applications received after the one-year deadline, registration fees shall double.
These requirements should encourage timely enrollment of litters and registration of individual dogs from those litters.
